The Dead Sea Squirrels

The Dead Sea Squirrels is an upcoming indie rock band from Sheffield.
These are my suggestions for their website: This site should contain a strong brand identity on which the band can build. A picture of Band members lying down (like dead squirrels) on a simple pier with a microphone standing in the foreground. This theme should also be used on their album cover when they do release one. Or, as is usual, a new site with the current album art will be built whenever a new album is being promoted.
Bold lettering should be used to spell out the name of the band on the banner (much like fivetimesaugust.com)
The site should have simple navigation with basic but contemporary links to an About page (showcasing band history and membership), a Media page (for songs, pictures, and videos), a News/Blog page, a Contact page, a Touring page, and a Shop page for band memorabilia

Beech Farm

The Beech Farm is a homely bed and breakfast in Cornwall who have approached me to build their brand new website. Most country side B&B websites have an almost tacky look about them suggesting that they have not yet arrived in the digital age.
I suggest that we simplify the site so that it reflects the serene atmosphere of the Cornish countryside but have a strong contemporary graphics back bone. The simple navigation should lead to an About page (showcasing the history and brand of the Breech Farm), Accommodations view page, a Bookings page, a Local “tourist” sites page, and a Contact page.
Different breakfast offers should also be in clear view such as Breakfast in bed offer, Cornish Country Buffet, and Traditional English Breakfast.

Five Times August

Five Times AugustThis wonderfully simple website for music recording artiste Bradley James under the name Five Times August is one of the few “music sites” that have a home feel about it. I love the banner with him sitting, playing the guitar and the name written out in full bold lettering. The homepage has a strong entertainment feel about it yet it is strangely relaxing. The menu bar and the social media links are a bit simplistic but fit in really well with the whole laid back style of the site.
There is a good number of things featured on this site but you never get the busy, loaded feeling that comes with a lot of such sites. Though the content on the site goes only one or two levels deep, fivetimesaugust.com gives you the feeling of going on a whirl wind tour.
5 Stars for aesthetics (especially of the home page)
4 Stars for functionality

Joyce Meyer Ministries

Joyce Meyer MinistriesThis site is a major shift away from the previously over crowded homepage of the Joyce Meyer Ministries. Now with probably more content, they have managed to put a level of simplicity in the site where things, though not all visible at first, are now very easy to find. The site is very content rich with some pages going several levels deep, yet you don’t feel lost. The ux design is both refreshing to look at and utilitarian to use. Several unseen menu items become visible over dynamic images just by hovering over the main menu items. Also, the search function works like a blessing to give an added zest to the functionality of the site.

Oliver James Gosling

Oliver James GoslingVery simply and to the point is a good way to describe the goslingo.com site. Typical content for a web developer’s site but the approach is radically different! Everything on the site (apart from Oliver’s CV) can be found on the one page with the links simply pointing to different portions of the page. The biggest selling point of this site, which is its simplicity, could also be seen by some to be its sore point but my personal preference is simple and to the point. The only thing I don’t totally like, is the fact that there might be a bit too much white on the site.
3.5 Stars for aesthetics

Window in My Room

One of the best designs I have seen in quite a while, is the window in my room. Whenever I look outside, I most often find myself taking a bit of time to admire this “classic work of art.” This window looks alot like most other windows out there but scores very highly in functionality.

With a twist of the “magic” handle, this multifunctional masterpiece could either open up as a normal in-swinging window or a half-way hanging unit which allows for night ventillation especially during periods of warm temperatures.

My single window unit seems like every other solidly built window, but turns up the style with a single twist of its handle!

This beautiful high neck cardigan is both stylish and practical. Whether in the red, blue, or grey colors, it maintains an urban/modern look without the ubiquitos hood and still works perfectly well to keep you warm, especially during this cold autumn season.

Gets two thumbs up: one for style (aesthetics) and the other for functionality.

Audi TT the Aquiline!

Though much has been said about the engine performance and interior design of the TT, my intrigue is with the aquiline exterior. Whether true or not, the eagle head shape conjures up visions of powerful aerodynamics.

Though I’ve never driven a TT, I would consider getting one because of the image that has been lodged in my mind. And this says alot about the design!
